Cambodia-US trade volume reaches over $5 billion


As a bilateral development partner between Cambodia and the United States, trade volume has grown to more than $ 5800 million, about 37% compared to the same period last year.

The Minister of Commerce, Bann SourSak, was in attendance to celebrate the 244th anniversary of the United States Independence Day, which was held at Le Royal Phnom Penh Hotel on the night of July 1, 2020. On behalf of the people and the Royal Government of Cambodia, please extend the warmest congratulations and best wishes to the people and the United States Government.

“This day is a special occasion, as this year marks the 244th anniversary of US Independence Day this year, marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and the United States,” he said. “That includes enhancing economic cooperation, trade, education, culture as well as people-to-people programs. ”

He affirmed that the achievements of the two countries have been cooperating recently, including the following:

– The bond between our two countries emphasizes the importance of promoting bilateral cooperation based on mutual respect and further strengthening the two countries’ relations.

– US-Cambodian cultural and educational exchanges aimed at strengthening and enhancing the visit of US Congressmen and other US government officials to better understand the culture and society of Cambodia.

– Signing agreement between the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and USAID in 2019, totaling $ 56 million for health, education, agriculture and the environment. For US $ 11 million in financial support, the project also helped Cambodia to address the economic and health impacts of the Cambodian people.

The bilateral trade between the two countries has grown significantly in recent years, with total trade volume growing by 37% in 2019 compared with 2018. Prices range from $ 4 billion to $ 5.8 billion.
